SERVPRO Tackles Big Fire Damage In Miami Garage

On arrival, we immediately contained the doorway to the garage and began scoping the damage. There were few contents in the garage in restorable condition; many of the power tools were a loss as the rubber coated wiring inside and outside melted. Our technicians packed out the homeowner's standing metal tool chest and a couple of large metal shelving units that needed cleaning but were otherwise in good shape for remedial actions at our location.

After removing salvageable items and debris, our technicians went to work on the charred building materials. Sheetrock damaged by fire requires removal as it contributes nothing but odor. We utilized controlled demolition techniques to save as much of the framework as possible for rebuilding the garage.

Our technicians used vacuums with HEPA filtration to pick up soot particles left and then deployed air scrubbers with HEPA filters to capture particulate matter smaller than the human can see but does not escape detection by the human nose if left behind.

The final stage of getting the fire loss area ready for rebuilding comes in the form of disinfection and odor control. We hand clean all surfaces to ensure, and if any residual reminders of the fire remain, we eradicate it. We have many methods for odor control, and in this case, we chose to apply thermal fogging to the garage area to thoroughly neutralize odor so the garage would be ready for rebuilding.
