Professional Water Damage Experts Prioritize Drying Out Your Water Damaged Home
An upstairs bathtub or toilet overflows, and suddenly you are dealing with water flowing out the door and down the stairs. Depending on how quickly you can stop the water flow, you could wind up with a massive cleanup on your hands. Unfortunately, this is a common situation, and water leaks from the upper levels can cause double the damage to your Key Biscayne home.
Key Biscayne water damage, which originates from an upstairs bathroom, can create quite a mess in your home. Not only is your bathroom a mess, but the floor, ceiling, and room underneath the bathroom are also soaked. You need the help that our staff at SERVPRO are trained to give you. With the right tools and the necessary knowledge, we come out to your home quickly to get your home back normal.
When carpeting and padding in your home get wet from the leak, we can sometimes dry it in place. The basic idea of this mechanism is to extract the carpet more thoroughly and increase how many dehumidifiers and air movers there are. The carpeting is not rolled back, and the pad is not removed but instead dried in place.
If this method is possible, SERVPRO techs begin with water extraction, which must be aggressive. We use specialty weighted equipment that squeezes water out of the carpet and pad. We start with the center of the room first; then, we move the furniture to the center when that is done so we can continue extracting the room's perimeter.
A truck mount with a regular wand is used first to stop water migration, and then we use a weighted extraction tool. We inspect the pad for water content, pulling a corner of the carpet back, rolling the padding like a newspaper, and squeezing it as hard as possible. If water drips from the pad, more passes are needed. We continue the extraction passes until we remove the moisture.
Extracting with the in-place method requires double to triple the time for water removal. However, time is saved by not removing the carpet and pad.
After extraction, we place air movers and calculate dehumidifier requirements to achieve the most efficient drying conditions. One air mover is used for each fifty to sixty square feet of the affected area.
